8 Lessons I learned from My Father

Today, August 14th, 2016 would have been my father, Vincent Anthony Posa's 60th birthday. As I have previously wrote, he died a few months ago in a motorcycle accident. So today, I spent a lot of time crying - wishing I could tell him how much I love him and thank him for how much he has taught me. So I thought that the next best thing would be to share some of those lessons which have shaped who I am today, as a way to recognize him for being such a great father to me for 30 years of my life. A few reflections about life and death

As you may know, my father passed away very suddenly on April 26th. He was riding a motorcycle after just visiting the Hoover Dam. I was the first to find out.. and I was still in the airport having just gotten back from my month long trip in India. It’s been exactly two months since that day. When I was 5 years old, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. It was around Thanksgiving time. I was losing my appetite and losing weight. I started wheezing a lot and it was hard to breathe. I went from being a highly energetic kid, to asking my dad to carry me through the grocery store because I was too tired to walk. So after my parents took me to the doctor multiple times insisting that something was very wrong, they finally took an x-ray and saw a tumor on my lungs.
